Ham House and gardens near Richmond

Left Mill Hill around 09:30 and traveled on North Circular and South Circular Roads via Kew and Richmond. Roads not too busy so pleasant ride down on the Yamaha. Drivibg on London roads is horrible when the roads are busy. A warm day with only slight cloud cover. Attractive house although we just listened to the introductory talk in the below stairs area. Jacobean style is appealing. Very conventional . Bricks, sash windows, pitched roof. Had tea in one of the gardens but some tosser had thrown empty cups and lids on the ground. Why? Such effort to carry and drop the empties in a bin. The view during the walk along the river bank obscured by trees and bushes. Not too many selfish, aggressive cyclists on the path. They can be self righteous menaces. Traffic heavier on return journey but easier on a bike than in a car! Small diversion via the Ace Cafe. My Yamaha looks in dire need of a clean in comparison to the gleaming machines at the Ace.
