Old skirting board gaps filled

Sep 5, 2016

I finished filling the gaps around the stair skirting and one of the old door frames. This was a tedious job. First filled the gaps with foam to form a base. Then plaster filler at base of wall. Finished off with flexible frame filler in the remaining gap.

The old paint on the skirting and architrave is some strange mixture of putty and dust. Maybe this was emulsion? Not much affected by chemical paint stripper or a blow torch. After scraping and sand papering and wire woolling I cleaned enough of the paint to form a new base for undercoat and gloss. As usual, not great, but a lot better than what was there before.
