On the tub from Dover

Aug 2, 2018

I met Derek and Martin, a couple of seasoned bikers, on the ferry from Dover. They were traveling to the Ardennes. A source of great information on contradictory European speed regulations. For example, if you go one km/h over speed on Luxembourg = on the spot fine. Martin (Martijn?) recommended I look at the Caberg Duke II helmet with a flip up visor.

My bike was easy to fix to the deck of the ferry using a rachet strap and extensive help from seasoned travellers.

The ferry crossing was absolutely calm Sur La Manche. The DFDS ferry has a panoramic window at the front so one can look out to sea and stave off boredom on the crossing.

Out on the road Google maps plus GPS is accurate but a crappy old phone battery and unreliable power supply reduces the time window to use the device. There must be some more reliable setup.
