I’ve been a tech writer for 30 years and Word still gives me fits. Just today I used your Define a New List technique to fix a section of Header 3 that kept numbering all the entries the same number. When I redefined the second entry, the first entry reverted to the second entry number. I was going to just hard code it, and when I backspaced the number out of the first entry, then entered it by hand, it instantly zapped the whole section into correctly numbered bliss!
